Larrington trailers have just supplied their first trailer with a separate on-board hydraulic system.
Following demand from customers who have experienced a reduction of oil supply from their new tractors, Larrington Trailers have created a system that makes up the short fall.
European trailers have been using pumps driven by PTO shafts for several years but this has never taken off in the UK as users are concerned about damage to the tractor's drive shaft if the driver turns sharply when trying to tip the trailer.
Larrington's new system uses the tractor's hydraulics through its double acting spools to deliver up to 110 litres per minute oil flow to a motor built onto the trailer. The motor is connected to a pump which is fed by an independent hydraulic oil tank with 80 litres of oil.
This separate oil tank and pump provides the oil to tip the body and solves the problem posed by tractors with short supplies of oil. As importantly, this system also keeps the tractor's hydraulics separate from the tailor's, removing the risk of contamination.
