With
oil prices increasing, the cost of cultivation becomes a very
important part of farm profit calculations. Traveling
across the same ground twice, three times or more you can
kiss those profits goodbye. The Rotary
Plough is designed to
be a single pass cultivating machine, digging the ground too
or below the depth of a plough, but leaving you with a seed
bed soil finish.
We
have used the machine during 2008 to incorporate straw that
has been left on the ground after lifting carrot crops.
This can be 20 tons of straw to one acre. In this operation
we are only cultivating the top 10" max of the soil with
the straw so when the field is ploughed at 15" the under
layer of soil is placed onto of the mixed straw.
The
top picture shows the original machine purchased from Holland
and made by Farmax, during the last year we have been able
to design our own machine for incorporating straw with more
efficiency and greatly reduced wear. We have removed the rear
driven leveling rotor and replaced this with a "Simba"
DD ring leaving the ground firmed and ridged allowing water
to pass through the surface. The drive box is designed to
cope with greater HP's and longer operating tolerance. Our
system use's "power Lock" couplings removing the
use of key ways or splined shafts. We will offer a range of
digging rotors so that the machine can be used for spring
work creating a seed bed from ploughing to straw incorporation.
This
machine does not smear the ground, this machine does leave
a seed bed, this machine only uses 26 - 30 ltrs of fuel per
hour on a 200hp tractor. When compared to three tractors and
three different machines to create the seed bed you require,
this is a better, and more cost effective way of creating
the tilth you need.
2009
will see us develope this machine for potato ground.
