Larrington Trailers have been manufacturing Straw Spreaders since 1983, and with over 30 years experience in manufacturing Straw Spreaders it isn't surprising to hear that we are constantly developing this machine to cope with higher work loads, and that we are constantly bettering the opposition. Covering carrot crops with a thick layer of straw is on thing, but this machine has to achieve two other very important things, protecting your strawberries from the elements and extending the picking time. Both of these require much greater control of the straw as it is being shredded and moved through the machine. To achieve these we have developed a patented design which allows the straw to be sliced within to hood, whilst allowing stones to pass through the cutting area without damaging the cutting system.
Extended Picking Time.
During early spring the machine is used to layer frosted crops, attempting to restrict the growth of part of the cropping area. This will stall some of the crop whilst ripening will happen in other areas of the farm allowing picking time to be extended.
Protect Your Strawberries.
Placing straw in between the rows of strawberry crops protects them from unwanted elements. To achieve this we have to slice the straw as it is moving through the rear hood of the machine, dividing the straw into the required spacings between the plant leaf onto the ground.
Tunnel Grown Strawberries.
Tunnel Grown Strawberries offer another challenge as they also need straw placing between the plants. We have designed and patented a machine specific to this requirement. Increase efficiency, and speed of laying the straw at a reduced cost; as most of this straw is laid by hand.
Our latest machines have been built on a tandem axle which greatly increases the stability of the machine when operating in uneven conditions.
Many machines on the market are very slow, but not the "Larrington". The Strawberry Straw Shredder can shred a whole bale per minute and will comfortably travel at 10kph while covering 3 or 4 rows at a time.
